<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">&#8220;The New Mexico Public Education Department has just released grades for public schools based on its new A &#8211; F program – and many New Mexico schools didn’t fare well.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">The rankings show 73 of the state’s 831 schools got A’s – while 89  received F’s.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">APS superintendent Winston Brooks issued a statement Tuesday in reaction to the grading system, which he called “an interesting tool by which some may evaluate individual schools.”</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">After taking a closer look at the report, it appears that Albuquerque Public Schools accounted for 34 percent of failing schools.  166 Albuquerque Public Schools  were graded, 30 of them received failing grades.  That is an 18% failure rate.  In light of the fact that quite a few of them also received Ds, it seems to me that there should me a more comprehensive look at APS.  It is time to get to the root cause of this matter.</span></p>

<p><strong>Back in the 1930s, with Unemployment Rate above 25% and banks foreclosing on families in record numbers, the Roosevelt Administration proposed a great plan to fix the foreclosure crisis, in what was dubbed the biggest Housing Bust in US History.</strong>  At the time mortgages were 5-year maturity, with a Balloon Payments at the end of the term.  This really hurt homeowners who were becoming unemployed, as banks would foreclose on their homes.  In 1933, Congress established the <strong>Home Owner Loan Corporation (HOLC)</strong> which basically financed the homes of families in distress.  What a great idea that was…it worked.</p>
<p>Has congress forgotten about this very successful initiative?  Instead of prolonging this crisis, why not establish <strong>a 21<sup>st</sup> Century HOLC? </strong> Maybe establish longer mortgage maturities?  We need some bold solutions for this crisis.</p>

<p><strong>Below you will find six of the most important market statistics for Condos and Townhomes in Albuquerque, New Mexico.</strong>  As we compare today’s real estate market to those of six months ago, there has been a decrease in the average price of homes.  By understanding today’s real estate market, we will be prepared to price your home appropriately to sell for the highest possible price in the shortest amount of time.</p>
<p><strong>The data indicates that more homes are entering the market than are being sold, so we are in a still in a &#8220;buyers market.&#8221; </strong>There has been a 11% decrease in the amount of homes available for sale. The expected result is a increase in price which maybe reflected in the List Price&#8230;however, the Average Price of Sold Homes decreased approximately 15% from $155,000 six months ago to $132,000 in the month of November.</p>

<p><strong>The  Albuquerque Real Estate market has seen a decline in distressed properties Sales for the month of November.</strong>  When compared to June 2011 this is a 28.2% decline&#8230;at the same time that the Average Sale Price of Distressed Properties declined from $154,000 to $139,000.</p>

<p>The current winter storm blanketed the entire state of New Mexico.  From Raton to Roswell, Los Alamos to Las Cruces, and all points between&#8230;nobody is spared from the fury of this storm.  As it carves its path through the state it is leaving a blanket of heavy, wet snow, the kind that sticks to the ground and causes havoc on the interstate highways.</p>
<p>State and Local Government officials are not taking any chances they have closed both  I-40 and I-25, as reported in KOB TV:<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>The New Mexico Department of Transportation closed down I-25 north of Santa Fe to Raton Monday afternoon.</strong></p>
<blockquote><p><strong>New Mexico State Police shut down eastbound I-40 from Louisiana Boulevard in Albuquerque all the way to the Texas state line because of dangerous road conditions. Officials also closed eastbound I-40 between Moriarty and Santa Rosa.</strong></p></blockquote>
